Getting to Know the Holy Communion and the Necessary Communion Sets

Most people do not realize how important communion sets have become in today’s world. Christian churches use these set of materials to help represent and at the same time share the love and body of Christ.

Even though the event of a Communion is important, there are still some people who are not familiar with the what and the how of Holy Communion.

The Holy Communion or Confirmation is representative of the time when Christ had his communion fellowships with his disciples. Most notable among these gatherings would be the Last Supper.

The sacrament of the Communion is also called the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist. It is done as a way of “thanksgiving.” It is representative of a Christian being able to hear, taste, touch, and receive the grace of the Lord through his son, Jesus.

In a Holy Communion, everything is used to symbolize something. For example, the main elements would be the bread and the wine. The bread represents the body of Christ.

When the priest breaks the bread, this goes on to symbolize the fact that Jesus sacrificed his life to save humankind, by doing so he cleansed humanity from sin.

The practice of Communion saw a decline for some years, but it is now steadily gaining ground again.

The Catholic Church has admitted children, ranging from seven and eight, to a first communion. This usually comes before the Confirmation, which is usually done during teenage years. The parish priest is usually the one that can recommend a child for a Communion.

Ultimately, the parents have the last say in the matter and when they think their child would be ready.

A Holy Communion is a special event, and thus, it requires several tools and materials. You can find plenty of communion sets that are used by people in the clergy in different denominations.

We all know that having a Communion is not limited to just children, anybody who is willing to accept Christ under any circumstances can go ahead and partake of a Communion. Sometimes, the clergy may find themselves in a spot where they need to do the Communion on the spot.

For this same reason, communion sets that are portable are now for sale. These same portable sets are very convenient to carry around and use.

Before, communion sets were more often than not, made of silver which made it expensive to mass produce. Traditional communion sets usually consists of the chalice or cup, the paten, the cruet, and the pyx. These are all essential elements to the communion.

For example, a pyx is a small round container that is used to store the Host during a Communion. A cruet is like a small bottle or flask, used to contain the wine representing the blood of Christ.

You also have the other tools like the paten, which is a small silver plate used to hold the bread. Finally, there is the chalice or the cup where the wine is poured into.

All of these things are important to a Holy Communion. This celebration is essential to people’s lives as a Christian.

With the aid of Communion sets, anyone who yearns for the Lord can surely live under his grace and love.
